Verified Purchase. Have played this game for many hours now on the PSP. It is very addictive. It is definately the best tennis game I have played on a hand held console. Loads of different games and tournaments to try out. The Sound effects are brilliant. On the clay you can hear sliding and the players feet react as you really would.
Even has Maria Sharapova grunting if that is a good thing!! Noticed as well that the grass courts wear as the tournament progresses. Just a small detail but makes it more authentic. The main tournaments are fictional in that it isn't Wimbledon, Flushing Meadows etc but that doesn't spoil it. You can aquire different sponsorship deals and play doubles and mixed doubles, which again are very authentic most of the time. The only small gripe I have is that different tournaments around the world have the same stadium sometimes.
Overall though, a must for tennis fans. One person found this helpful. How many Tennis games do you need for your PSP? If your answer is more than one, then this might be the game for you. If, like most people, one Tennis game is sufficient, then I strongly suggest buying Virtua Tennis 3 instead of this. This is a decent little Tennis game with all the usual modes you would expect Tournament, Exhibition, etc.
Namco know how to make a fun arcade-style game and Smash Court Tennis has always offered an enjoyable, different system to other Tennis games, which is why I've given it four stars for fun, but compared to the competition of Tennis games on the PSP, I can't recommend it. The game would, however, make an excellent second Tennis game for a PSP collection. Great tennis game one of the best on the psp. Overall However I must say that even though Smash Court Tennis 3 goes further in terms of playability than some other Tennis games, its major fault also lets the game down in terms of fluidity.
The analogue control is really annoying and will leave you heading for the off switch on many of occasions. The online feature is a nice touch and to be honest for a PSP game it fairs well enough to be played for at least a month, but the repetitiveness will ease its way in soon enough. I do actually recommend this game to all Tennis fans as it takes on new elements that i'm sure Tennis Gamers will enjoy and beginners to love to play this also, but though enjoyable for a while, it disappoints there soon after.
